Investigators have determined the death at a Wallaceburg house fire to be related to the blaze.

On Wednesday, Chatham-Kent police updated the public, as they continue to search for the cause of the fatal fire at the Langstaff Line residence.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Sunday, around 2:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews extinguished the blaze but the building was destroyed. An inspection of the property led to the discovery of a lone deceased man inside the residence. Damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management, Chatham-Kent Police and Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services will be conducting a joint investigation.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
