Chatham Kent is known for many things. World Class Tech Companies probably wouldn't be your first guess.

But there's a tech company that recently set up shop locally, and executives are hoping they can help change the town’s image.

Intellitix allows you to buy a ticket to an event online. In return, you receive a wristband in the mail, and when you go to the event, you can leave your wallet at home.

Intellitix does the software, hardware and service deployment at some of the biggest concerts and sporting events in the world, including Coachella, Boots and Hearts and the Ryder Cup.

Intellitix will also be at the Windsor-Essex Harvest Festival in Amherstburg this September.

Founded in Montreal in 2011, the company branched out and set up an office and warehouse in Chatham.

After years on the road, Chatham native Peter Fantuz came home to run the office.

It grew quickly from there.

Fantuz says they now have nine employees in Chatham, and they are doing everything from human resources and logistics to engineering.

Fantuz says they are also looking for more people.

Chief Revenue Officer Peter Janssen says they chose Chatham because the cost of office and warehouse space is among the lowest in the country.

Profit magazine has also listed the region as one of the most affordable places to do business in all of Canada.

Janssen adds the talent pool from nearby universities and colleges is impressive.

Janssen also points to the ecosystem of resources, like We-Tech Alliance and Sandler Sales Training, that have helped Intellitix grow quickly.
