A Windsor man has the winning numbers for a $10,000 Encore lottery ticket, but he must wait a month before finding out if he can claim the money.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation officials say Edward Jewell’s prize falls within the definition of an ‘insider win’ because his son is an employee at an OLG retail location.
The ticket was purchased at Joe’s Variety on Notre Dame Street in Belle River on October 12, 2012.
Jewell has completed the first of two steps in the insider wins process by submitting the prize claim. The process involves an independent investigation of the claim by a third-party working in partnership with OLG’s regulator the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
To complete the claim, the prize will be held for a 30-day waiting period, in order for OLG to publicize the win. If there are no additional claims on the money, it will be paid to Jewell on June 5.
