City officials are warning Windsor residents to be aware of individuals posing as city building inspectors.

Several people have reported to the city that people dressed similar to inspectors knocked on their door and asked to enter their homes.

Once inside, the men go to the water heater and begin talking about the benefits of one product over another.

The city says it becomes apparent they are salesmen from a water heater rental company.

One resident reported the individual was in his home for almost an hour before leaving.

All City of Windsor inspectors are required by law to carry photo identification.

If someone comes to your door and identifies themselves as a building inspector, ask to see their Inspector’s Badge and photo identification.  Residents are also asked to call the Inspections Dispatch number at (519) 255-6453 to report such a situation.
