Thanksgiving long weekend is nearly upon us and that means it's sure to be a busy weekend at the border.

Don't worry, there's an app for that.

The Canada Border Services Agency is trying to take some of the guess work out of the border-crossing equation by helping you get on your way a little bit faster.

While a new app won't stop traffic from happening, it might help you make a decision between which crossing you choose and get you to your destination faster.

The CBSA has launched the app called "CanBorder" which provides up to date information for each border crossing in Canada, including how many lanes are open and how long you'll be waiting.

Border officials still have a few reminders for travellers:

-Asking passengers to ensure everyone in the vehicle has proper travel documents.

-Know the contents of your vehicle, such as purchases.

-Be aware of personal exemptions and restrictions.

Historically the busiest day to cross the border on Thanksgiving weekend is apparently the Monday.

You're actually exempt to bring back one turkey that weighs 10 kg or less, so about 22 lbs, into Canada.
