Many Windsorites were out enjoying the warm temperatures in shorts and tank tops Thursday morning and early afternoon, until the stormy weather moved in.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent. The watch also includes Sarnia and Lambton.

Joggers, gardeners and patio lovers were taking in the sunshine and pleasant temperatures before the storm hit. At 2 p.m. the temperature at Windsor Airport was 24 C.

The rain started mid-afternoon Thursday.

Scattered thunderstorms from northern Indiana and lower Michigan moved into extreme southwestern Ontario during the mid-to-late afternoon hours.

The forecaster says these storms could contain large hail and damaging winds. There is potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall.
