The St. Denis Centre Fieldhouse at the University of Windsor will soon be sporting a new name.

The building is being re-named the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse, in honour of one the most decorated track and field coaches in Canadian sport history.

The announcement came Thursday evening at an event to celebrate Fairall.

Fairall led Lancer teams to 25 Canadian Interuniversity Sport Championships, 46 Ontario University Athletics titles, and has received the honour of CIS or OUA coach of the year 65 times.

Fairall joined the University of Windsor in 1985.

He was head coach of Team Canada at the 2005 Pan Am Junior Athletics Championships in Windsor. That year Team Canada took home their highest medal count to date.
