The Windsor branch of the Salvation Army is hoping to raise $260,000 in the 2015 Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Kettles will be placed at 18 retail locations throughout Windsor until Dec. 24.

The campaign, which began Nov. 18, is in need of volunteers to stand by the kettles to greet shoppers with a smiling face and accept donations.

Prospective volunteers are encouraged to sign-up using the on-line system at www.WindsorChristmasKettles.ca or call the Kettle Hotline at 519-971-5878 or email kettles@salvationarmywindsor.ca.

"We are so grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who help us bring hope and dignity to our community's most vulnerable", says Salvation Army spokesperson Perron Goodyear.  "This year, we are once again relying on the assistance of our fellow Windsorites to help us make the Christmas season brighter for others".

The Salvation Army held its first Hope in the City luncheon at the Caboto Club on Monday to officially kick off the local campaign.
