A Windsor police constable is stepping down amid drug charges.
Const. David Bshouty was also facing 12 charges under the Police Services Act. Ed Parent, administrator of the Windsor Police Association, says those charges will be dropped.
“Under the Police Services Act, whenever a police officer resigns from the police force, they lose jurisdiction over that person,” says Parent.
Bshouty still faces criminal charges in Windsor of trafficking a controlled substance while under suspension.
“Obviously people have to make their own decision on how they want to end their careers or move forward,” says Parent. “I don’t know what his rational is, I haven’t spoken to him.”
Court appearances for the drug charges are scheduled for August and January.
