Most of the details are being kept under wraps for now, but Mayor Eddie Francis confirmed a large and significant investment is making its way to Windsor in the near future.
Following a late afternoon closed-door meeting with council on Wednesday, Francis would only say a major solar developer, which is already active in the province, will be investing on the grounds of Windsor International Airport.
The mayor says this investment proves the city is at the forefront of renewable energy.
"It showcases the region. It shows the opportunities the city has to offer. Bottom line is that we have more sunny days than any other jurisdiction and that's why we are appealing to solar developers.”
Francis expects within the next couple of weeks investment details will officially come before council.
