The GM smokestack has finally been knocked down, but a Windsor fire official says they weren't notified of the latest demolition attempt.

Windsor fire says they got a report of an unknown explosion and they sent seven fire trucks to the area.

A neighbouring business tells CTV Windsor they heard a bang, but didn't know what it was.

Three previous attempts to demolish the smokestack at the former GM transmission plant were unsuccessful.
