The Windsor police forensic unit continued to collect evidence Monday into the city's first homicide of the year.
Police have charged 37-year-old Kristopher Hillis with second-degree murder after an alleged altercation inside an Aubin Road home on Saturday morning.
John Jubenville, 52, was taken to hospital where he later died of his stab wounds.
“(Forensic investigators) will be combing the scene for any evidence that is to be gathered," says Sgt. Matthew D’Asti.
A neighbour who didn’t want to be identified, told CTV News Saturday that a young girl was brought out of the house by police around 5 a.m, but police have not confirmed that.
“As this goes forward we will be learning more information as it's gathered," says D’Asti.
A few months ago, Thomas James Knight was planning on buying the home where the murder took place.
“I just can't believe it happened," says Knight. "It's a shame to live so long just to die cause of some idiot.”
The Families First funeral home lists an obituary for Jubinville saying he was a proud family man with 13 grandchildren and worked for over 20 years at BASF Canada Inc. in Windsor.
With a murder weapon seized, police say it was an isolated incident.
“We're satisfied that the person in custody is the person responsible for this incident," says D’Asti.
