It was a frightening late afternoon for some residents who live along Turkey Creek after a brush fire grazed more than 30 homes on Thursday.
Sloane Crease who has lived on Reaume Road for 20 years says she could feel the intensity of the heat. "It's was about two storeys high and I just thought our house was going down."
Fire fighters received calls about a brush fire around 5 p.m.
It quickly spread due to a strong wind, and ended up covering eight acres of land billowing black smoke.
Homeowner Dylan Bigelow was surprised how large the fire grew, "It was catastrophic. A lot of nature was destroyed."
Many neighbours say it’s not uncommon for people to start bonfires in the brush.
However, police and fire could not confirm the cause.
Authorities are thankful there were no reports of injuries
