Const. Bianca Jackson said at this point, police can’t say how many shots were fired.
The 57-year-old man who was shot was taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to the SIU.
Police said an officer on scene was also injured.
“One of our officers did sustain a minor injury and he's getting that checked out, I believe, in the hospital,” said Jackson.
Jackson said it was a minor cut.
“In a situation like this, of course, several officers were called to the scene. Physically, I can tell you that the officers are okay,” said Jackson. “Of course, it's going to take a toll on any person who's involved in this situation.”

Part of the investigation includes the locations the man visited leading up to the incident.

Police were asking the public to avoid the area Friday afternoon. Officers said there is no risk to public safety.
The SIU confirmed five investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
