After 37 years, Windsor's only pre-school for children with special needs is set to close this summer.
The John McGivney Centre's pre-school program will end on Aug. 31.
The province has changed the funding formula, which left the McGivney centre with a $360,000-a-year budget shortfall.
To offset the changes, the centre had to raise its daily fees from $36 to $75.
Enrolment in the program was at 63 kids, after the daily rate changed, enrolment dropped 27 kids.
A city report will come before council in May.
Ward 8 councillor Bill Marra says it's a complex issue and it would be a mistake to see the program end in August without a transition strategy.
A petition has been launched calling for funding to be reinstated.
