The Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital will not reopen for surgeries by Monday as hoped, but officials indicated they may have narrowed down the cause of scorching.

Hospital president and CEO David Musyj says an early examination suggests the age of some equipment may be responsible for the reported scorching problem.

Steam lines running from the powerhouses to the autoclaves were installed more than fifty years ago.

Lab tests indicate any scorch marks found on hospital cloths are organic, not harmful, and do not negatively impact sterilization of surgical instruments.

However operating rooms are not expected to reopen by Monday.
