The long-time Executive Director for the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society has been fired.
AM800 News is reporting Melanie Coulter has been let go, as voted on by the board.
In a statement to AM800 News, Coulter said, "I enjoyed my time there and was not provided with information about why the board chose to move forward with new leadership."
Coulter worked at the Humane Society for 16.5 years.
An interim executive director has been named by the board, according to a statement released on Friday.
"The Board is very grateful for Melanie’s many years of service and wishes her all the best going forward. There will be no further comment on the reasons for her departure, as we do not comment publicly on employment matters," said the statement.
Effective Monday July 8, Rob Moroz will be assuming the role of interim executive director.
"Rob joins the WECHS after having a long and successful career with Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare. The Board will also be moving forward with the process to find a permanent Executive Director," said the board.
