Windsor police are looking for information after a skinned coyote was found in Windsor’s west end.
Police were called to Ironwood Drive and Cherry Blossom Drive for a report of a dead and skinned dog at 1:45 p.m. on Monday.
Officers say a man made the discovery while walking his dog in the area.
The carcass was found off the roadway behind a concrete barricade traffic barrier.
The Windsor Essex Humane Society went to the scene and seized the carcass.
A shelter veterinarian performed an autopsy and says the animal died from a gunshot wound. There were no signs of animal cruelty.
Police believe the coyote was skinned at another location and dumped near Ironwood and Cherry Blossom.
Police are reminding hunters and trappers to properly dispose of animal carcasses or face fines.
"If anybody had seen anything they could contact us and we could locate the person or persons responsible and make them aware of the concerns of the neighbourhood,” says Sgt. Matthew D’Asti. “It was disturbing for this gentleman to find this."
