Percy Hatfield has officially been sworn in as the NDP MPP for Windsor-Tecumseh.

The ceremony was at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday morning at Queen’s Park.

Hatfield says he's overjoyed and he looks forward to tackling the challenges ahead. He wants a better economy and hopes to bring lost jobs, including thousands in the horse racing industry, back to the region.

“I hope to bring my voice to Queens's Park,” says Hatfield. “We haven't had a voice since last fall."

The former Windsor Ward 7 councillor took the riding with 61 per cent of the vote in the byelection on Aug. 1.

He takes over for former Liberal MPP Dwight Duncan, who stepped down in February.
