The water levels of the Thames River in Chatham-Kent remain high Saturday and have spilled over in some areas.
Much of the walkway along the riverbank in Chatham is under water and a lot of debris is floating in the river.
Last week, the Lower Thames Conservation Authority said it was difficult to predict how high the Thames River may rise in the city.
But it did say the downtown sidewalk in Chatham along the river is expected to remain flooded into next week.
The LTCA prepared the 6th Street dam for operation a couple of days ago.
Residents are reminded to be careful near all riverbanks.
Other areas are also dealing with flooding.
The communities of Williamsford and McCullough Lake in Chatsworth Township, near Owen Sound, are still under a state of emergency on Saturday.
The mayor of the municipality announced the emergency Friday after homes were evacuated and Highway 6, running through Williamsford was closed after the Saugeen River spilled its banks.
At least eight homes have been evacuated as a precaution and there is word Saturday that some cottages in the area may also have to be evacuated.
The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority issued a statement Saturday stating a private dam located at the highway bridge is partially obstructed by debris, which has reduced the capacity through the spillways, and in combination with the high flows, has resulted in flow over the roadway.
