A Wyandotte Street building sustained an estimated $200,000 damage after a fire Thursday night.

Firefighters responded to the blaze in the 700 block of Wyandotte Road East at Louis Avenue just before 8 p.m.

Ontario Fire Marshal investigators are on the scene Friday, focusing on the rear of the building.

Officials say Mac Salon suffered a lot of the damage. Witnesses say heavy smoke could be seen pouring out of the front of the salon.

No injuries were reported, but one resident was home at the time of the fire. The lone occupant of the upper unit says the fire caught him off guard.

“Tons of smoke was billowing into the apartment building, and I thought it was my air conditioner,” says Jared Mathews. “I thought everything was going on because of us, but we looked down, and all this smoke is coming into the house from the lower air conditioner, so it's all from the hair salon."
