According to the Financial Post, Chrysler is asking for unprecedented help to keep the minivan plant in Windsor.

As we`ve reported, Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is talking tough, as his company looks to roll out a brand new minivan.

Marchionne says it will be a multi-billion dollar investment from his company, but he won`t commit to spending it in Windsor.

Now Chrysler is talking with the upper levels of government to secure funding.

The Financial Post says Chrysler is asking for a 20 per cent input from both the feds and province to the project to keep it in Windsor.

That’s double what automakers typically receive according to auto analysts, because it’s usually 10 per cent from each level.

“Tennessee would probably give Sergio Marchionne a billion dollars,” says analyst Tony Faria. “Reid Bigland says they can take the investment to Brazil and get probably 85 per cent of it covered. That’s what we're competing against.”

Fiat Chrysler is expected to make a decision about where to spend their money on the minivan in the first quarter of 2014.
