A Mississauga man wanted on sexual conduct charges has been arrested while crossing the border with a “Free and Secure Trade” card.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office, 52-year-old Surjit Nannan was headed into Detroit via the Ambassador Bridge on Monday, while hauling a shipment of auto parts.
Officials say Nannan used a FAST card while crossing, but was flagged on an outstanding arrest warrant by a computer database. Officers learned that Nannan was wanted in Davison, Mich. for fourth degree criminal sexual conduct.
"Participation in trusted trader programs is a privilege." said Roderick Blanchard, Port Director in Detroit. "FAST card holders are afforded a higher level of trust and any violation will result in immediate removal from the program.”
Nannan will go before a Michigan court at a future date.
