The local Canadian Union of Postal Workers president says two more Canada Post jobs in Windsor have been lost Tuesday after more than 30 red mailboxes were removed from the city.
Jeff Carroll, president of CUPW Local 630, says letter processing is no longer being done in Windsor. He says equipment was removed at the processing plant on the weekend.
Canada Post said last month that no regular full-time or part-time workers would be laid off as a result of re-directing the mail. Some positions are being eliminated as employees retire, transfer or leave the company.
There are about 140 employees working at the Windsor mail processing plant. The changes will cost the site 82 jobs through attrition and job transfers.
