A 50-year-old Windsor man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a downtown home twice.

On Friday, patrol officers were called to the 300 block of Chatham Street West for a report of a break and enter that had occurred during the overnight hours.

Police say through investigation they determined that several items had been stolen from the residence.

On Sunday, officers responded to the same residence for a report of a suspicious man who had attended at approximately 11:30 a.m. 

Through investigation and viewing surveillance footage, it was determined the man was attempting to break into the residence and left the area when he noticed the home was occupied.  

Police say the man was also seen with property taken from the original break and enter.

The suspect was subsequently identified by officers.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers located the man at a business in the 500 block of University Avenue West, where he was arrested without incident.

Michael Pontich, a 50-year-old man from Windsor, is charged with attempted break and enter and possessing property obtained by crime under $5000

Some items reported stolen from the break and enter remain outstanding.
