Chatham-Kent police are looking for a suspect after a Bell telephone hub was damaged early Saturday.

Police say someone used an axe to damage the hub on Raleigh Street and to strip copper.

“Damage like this costs both Bell customers and tax payer’s (sic) substantial funds every year and is incredibly dangerous for the perpetrator,” a police news release says.

The damage estimate is $2,000.

Anyone with information that may assist in either identifying the truck used or the suspect is asked to contact police at 519-436-6600, extension 87214 or  Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
