Ontario's minister of finance hosted pre-budget consultation in Windsor Thursday, with two major industries taking center stage.

Dignitaries from across the region made their pitches to Charles Sousa, including concerns over remarks about Chrysler.

"Chrysler appears to want to do business in Ontario and rightly they should," says Sousa. “Ontario and Canada has also been a real partner with the automotive industry and we want to be able to further that relationship in an effective, cost effective manner."

Earlier this week, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne claimed the automaker was ready to invest $1 billion to keep the minivan in production, but in order to do so Chrysler will need incentives.

Incentives have worked before. In 2008, an investment from Canada’s Innovation Fund saved the Essex engine Ford plant from closure.

Sousa says the province is ready to talk.

"I have yet to see a proposal made by Chrysler. I look forward to having discussions as I’ve had with other proponents that want to come to Ontario."
