Members of a class action lawsuit will be able to apply for a multi-million dollar settlement approved in Superior Court.

The lawsuits were brought against the province by former residents of the Southwestern Regional Centre in Dealtown and the Rideau Regional Centre outside of Ottawa.

The compensation is for people who lived at the facilities from 1963 to 2009, when both facilities closed.

Premier Kathleen Wynne delivered a formal apology to residents of the regional centres in the legislature in December.
