The two suspects, who were allegedly in possession of a missing Halifax, NS woman’s car, have been remanded into custody for six days.

At a bail hearing Friday, a Windsor judge ordered Blake Leggette, 25, and Victoria Henneberry, 28, remain in police custody. At the same time, the Crown has stayed all Ontario charges against the pair. These charges include possession over stolen property, possession under stolen property, and possession of used credit card.

Henneberry’s lawyer, Maria Carroccia, says her client and Leggette still face a Nova Scotia charge of stolen property.

On Thursday, officers with Halifax Regional Police obtained a warrant for the arrest of the accused. Carroccia says police now have six days to retrieve the pair and escort them back to Halifax. If officers fail to retrieve Henneberry and Leggette, they will be freed.

In a news conference Friday, the sister of Loretta Saunders asked for help in finding the 26-year-old.

Delilah Terriak described her sister a strong, beautiful and smart woman. Saunders was last seen at her apartment in the Cowie Hill Road area in Halifax, NS last Thursday morning. Her family reported her missing on Monday.

“She’s the strongest person I know, and we know, she is so strong,” says Terriak. “That’s what’s keeping us going through this.”

Terriak also made a plea for financial help, so her family can make the trip from Newfoundland and Labrador to Halifax to assist with the search for Saunders.

“If I was missing, she would be doing the exact same thing. Probably even more.”

Essex County OPP arrested Hennenberry and Leggette after the vehicle belonging to Saunders was found in Harrow, Ont. on Tuesday.

The case of Saunders, 26, who is also pregnant, is being treated as suspicious and the RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

Originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, Loretta has been a student at Saint Mary's University for the past three years and is an aspiring lawyer. She recently completed a thesis on murdered and missing women.

Both are known to police in Halifax and Calgary. They appeared in a Windsor court on Wednesday.

Halifax Regional Police Const. Pierre Bourdages says “The two individuals arrested were previously residing in Halifax...The woman had a warrant for failing to appear here in Halifax, while the man had a warrant for an arrest in Calgary.”

CTV News has confirmed that the names of the people arrested match the names of a man and woman to whom Loretta had just rented her apartment in January. Her boyfriend says she was on her way to the apartment to collect overdue rent money when he last saw her.

Anyone who may have seen Loretta or her car, a blue Toyota Celica with Newfoundland and Labrador plate HCP 543, is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Loretta is described as an Inuk woman, 5'7" tall, 120 pounds with straight, light brown hair.
