Nobody was injured, but there were some tense moments Sunday morning during a high-rise fire in Windsor.

The blaze broke out around 10 a.m. Sunday in a unit on the 26th floor. Damage is estimated at $450,000. Investigators say an unattended candle was to blame.

"I was like ah, yeah, whatever, no big deal. but this time I actually smelled a bit of smoke, saw the ambulances, and was like no, this is for real," says tenant Rob, a tenant of the Victoria Park Place Apartment.

Reg Tessier, lives just three doors down from the affected unit. He says the man who lives inside was frantic and in shock.

"He was screaming that his cat was inside, he kept going back in trying to save his cat," says Tessier.

The occupant who lives in Unit 1609, where the fire originated, was eventually brought to safety and taken to hospital suffering from some minor burns and smoke inhalation.

Windsor Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says fighting a fire so high up certainly has its challenges.

"Obviously on the 26th floor, we're not going to be able to get ladders up there, so it has to be done from the interior," says Lee.

The hallways of the 26th floor as well as the unit above suffered smoke damage.

Meanwhile, the floor below experienced extensive water damage.
