A 32-year-old Hamilton driver was arrested after a police chase where he allegedly reached speeds of about 200 kilometres an hour on Highway 401.
Chatham-Kent OPP say an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on an Acura car for a speed violation on Highway 401 eastbound, near Victoria Road, on Sunday around 9 a.m.
Police say the driver did not stop and fled from the officer, accelerating to speeds of approximately 200 km/h, while driving the vehicle in an erratic manner.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop near Orford Road.
Driver Jason James has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight while pursued by peace officer, racing a motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on May 15 to answer to the charges.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
