Black Friday shoppers can start early and border crossing is not required.

Some retailers in Canada are featuring Black Friday sales for Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. Black Friday in the United States is held the day after American Thanksgiving in November.

Sears Canada and The Source are hoping to cash in on shoppers over the Canadian long weekend.

The Source is offering an online Black Friday sale, with merchandise an extra 30 per cent off. The company says it has great deals on the hottest technology.

Sears deals start Friday and continue until the following Thursday.

"Our customers already participate in our Black Friday sale in November so we wanted to give them one that, in a similar style to the U.S., would accompany our own Thanksgiving holiday," says Doug Campbell, president of Sears Canada. "With the variety of sales being offered in stores and online they can pick up new home essentials or even get a head start on their Holiday shopping."

Some examples include $1,300 for a leather sofa and chair, regularly $3,500 and a $100 tool set for under $30.

Sears released a new study showing that almost seven out of 10 respondents want Canadian retailers to offer Black Friday sales.
