A stop gap system is being used under the Ambassador Bridge to catch any debris from falling onto Windsor's public right of ways.
Security director of the bridge Stan Korosec says workers will be installing 5,000 planks of wood under the bridge deck this week.
The city closed Wyandotte Street West, Peter and Donnelly streets during the thanksgiving weekend because pieces of concrete from the bridge were discovered on the ground below it.
Korosec says this catchment method is only meant as a temporary solution.
He says they're waiting for approval from Transport Canada to build another ramp and detour traffic while the bridge deck is torn up for restoration.
