The new CEO at the Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation wants to continue the momentum the region is experiencing.
After an extensive search, Stephen MacKenzie has been introduced as the new CEO of the organization replacing Sandra Pupatello who resigned last summer.
MacKenzie, 53, comes to the region from Connecticut and has over 20 years of economic development experience.
He says this area has a lot to offer investors.
"The strategic location, the workforce, the engineering skills, the commitment for innovation which is key in today's economy," said MacKenzie
MacKenzie says there are three focuses when it comes to economic development; business attraction, retention expansion and fostering entrepreneurship.
"The biggest and most pleasant surprise when I was doing my research was the real attention given to those three disciplines and the efforts to build on and create the environment for that innovation, really impressive," he said.
MacKenzie says he is "not looking for glory but just wants to get the job done."
The economic development corporation has an annual budget of $2.5-million and 18 staff.
The current jobless rate sits at 6.2%.
