A Windsor couple is celebrating after winning $100,000 with Encore.
John and Sandra Krasinkiewicz of Windsor matched six of seven winning numbers on their Encore selection.
“I purchased our winning tickets on my way back from dinner with my son,” says John Krasinkiewicz. “I stopped for gas and bought the ticket.”
Several days passed before John checked the ticket.
“I went back to the same store to scan my ticket at the ticket checker,” he says. “I was shocked! It was just before 7 a.m. and I couldn’t believe it. I thought I was seeing things.”
John handed the ticket to the retailer for validation.
“This ticket was actually purchased on a whim so it was even more thrilling. I knew I won a good amount but when it was confirmed I couldn’t wait to tell my wife,” he says.
He says he called her right away and told her they won some money.
“When I told her the amount she was so happy and told one of our sons right away,” he says.
Sandra Krasinkiewicz says plans are already underway for the windfall.
“We will be helping our two sons out with their university education,” she says. “We are also planning a trip to Ireland in the spring. There are so many possibilities and we are still deciding.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Ouellette Avenue in Windsor.
