Essex County OPP say two people were arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash, as well as several thefts from vehicles.
On Sunday at 1:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision on Road 3 West at McCain Side Road in Kingsville.
A witness at the scene led police to a grey Pontiac which had been occupied by a male and a female and had struck an orange Honda and then fled the scene.
The vehicle was located parked and unoccupied a short distance from the location of the collision.
Officers saw the man and woman running through a bean field to the rear of residences on Road 2 West.
Police say the Pontiac had recently been stolen from Amherstburg and that it was linked to several recent thefts from vehicles and a break and enter in that municipality.
Containment of the area and a search by members from the Kingsville OPP detachment and surrounding detachments resulted in the tracking, location and arrest of the two people near the property of the Kingsville Golf and Country Club in the 600 block of Essex County Road 20.
Joseph Hanlon, 27 of Amherstburg, is charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-and-enter tools,
Merna Lajoie, 36, of Windsor is charged with possession of property obtained by crime.
Both parties remain in custody pending a bail hearing.
