A Toronto man has been sentenced to three and a half years in jail after a multi-million dollar drug bust in Amherstburg.
Edward Seery,33, had been charged with possession of cannabis marijuana for the purposes of trafficking after a $2.1 million drug bust on Nov.14. He pleaded guilty a week later.
In total five people were arrested, ranging in age from 18 to 37.
Amherstburg police were called to Concession Road 8 near County Road 10 following reports that a car had ended up in a ditch.
Two men were arrested on scene. The provincial anti-violence intervention strategy including officers from Windsor and LaSalle and Amherstburg launched an investigation.
Windsor police say officers discovered that there were some bins in the vehicle and that's what started the ball rolling.
Neighbours say that a house was surrounded in the 8500 block of Concession Road 8, near where the car was found.
Police say a marijuana processing facility was discovered in the back barn.
With 58 days of pre-sentence custody, Seery will now serve three years and four months in jail. He was also handed a 10-year firearms ban and he has to submit a DNA sample to Windsor police.
