Plenty of families soaked up the last day at the Adventure Bay Family Water Park Sunday, before city crews shut it down for five days.
Starting Monday, the water park will be closed so crews can start resurfacing the entire 22,000 sq. feet of flooring. The city is not required to make changes to the facility, as it meets all safety regulations, but it wants to enhance the grounds to avoid further slips and falls.
The epoxy-based floor will be stripped, cleaned and resurfaced with a sand-based coating to improve traction. The cost to refinish the floor is being split four ways between the city, the supplier, the installer and the builder.
Each party absorbs a piece of the $60,000 price tag.
The renovations won't affect the adjoining Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.
