A Lakeshore man has been charged after crashing into a ditch, while trying to avoid a police cruiser.

According to Essex County OPP, officers were stopped at the scene of a collision Saturday night on Essex County Road 35 in Comber, when officers say they noticed a Ford pickup truck trying to get around a parked cruiser blocking traffic.

Police say the pickup then drove onto the shoulder of the road, and rolled into the ditch causing the cab to partially fill with water.

Emergency crews extracted the man. He was not injured.

Police say the mam showed signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.

Charged is 53-year-old Allan Nussey of Lakeshore with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, exceeding 80 mg of blood-alcohol.
