A bail hearing for Scott Quick has begun in a Windsor courtroom.
Quick, 48, was charged with first degree murder on March 12 by provincial police.
His estranged wife Nancy Quick was struck down in broad daylight by a hit and run driver in Tecumseh in 2006.
She died five days later in a Detroit hospital from critical injuries.
The vehicle, which was stolen, was recovered on IC Roy drive where a witness saw a man exiting a vehicle.
Three days have been set aside for the proceedings.
A publication ban is in effect.
