Archaeologists in Lakeshore are turning up interesting artifacts, some about 4,000 years old.

The archaeological dig at County Road 22 and the Puce River has unveiled various items, including pottery, arrowheads, wild bore tusks and axe pieces.

The project began in July 2012 after items were discovered while preparing for the expansion of County Road 22.

It's considered a stage four excavation, which is said to be rare. They estimate up to 100,000 artifacts could be at the site.

It is expected to be complete this fall.
