Windsor's new city hall will be built by Oscar Construction.

The company, based in Oldcastle, came in with the lowest bid, according to project administrator Wadah Al-Yassiri.

The bids of five general contractors were unsealed yesterday at city hall.

He tells CTV News, Oscar’s bid came in at $28.5 million – that’s below the budget amount of $31 million.

Al-Yassiri says because it’s under budget. They might now be able to look at adding some of their "provisional items" to the project, things like greenscaping between the 400 building and the new city hall or adding a green roof to the facility.

Al-Yassiri says next the city's purchasing and legal departments will go through the bid to formally finish the tendering process.

Construction is expected to begin sometime this fall.

A separate tender will be issued in the months ahead, for things like demolition of the current city hall and furnishing the new city hall.
