Tis’ the busy season for parcel delivery for Canada Post.
In fact, the number of parcels being processed by staff in Windsor-Essex for the crown corporation has increased this year.
Jon Hamilton, general manager of communications, tells CTV News they are expecting to deliver 51,000 parcels in Windsor this holiday season. That’s an eight per cent increase over last December.
Hamilton adds they are now “delivering one-million parcels a day this holiday season and have done it for 18 consecutive days with no sign of slowing down.”
It’s not only Canada Post that is busy. Many couriers are just as busy.
FedEx Express Canada expects new records will be set for deliveries this holiday season, thanks to an increase on online shopping.
“Each year we see strong evidence of the continued growth of online shopping throughout our FedEx network, especially during the holiday season where the number of packages making their way through our network continues to grow,” said Lisa Lisson, president of FedEx Express Canada.
A recent survey of 1,522 Canadians, commissioned by FedEx Express Canada, found 68 per cent of respondents indicated e-commerce is the fastest and most efficient way to shop for gifts during the holiday season.
