A new alarm will soon be available to help protect Windsor victims of domestic violence.
Windsor police are getting the GPS-enabled alarms to give to high-risk victims for their protection. The device can alert police of their location when they feel threatened.
The alarm, which is the size of a small pager, is integrated with Google maps so that police dispatchers can direct officers to the victim's location.
The Windsor police force is receiving a provincial grant for $7,267, made possible from property forfeited under the Civil Remedies Act, to pay for the devices.
“This is good news for the Windsor police and our community,” says Windsor Chief Al Frederick. “Through this investment, the police can better protect Windsor families and continue keeping them safe.”
