Windsor Fire and Rescue Services crews were dispatched after a false alarm at a pizza restaurant on Wyandotte Street East.

Fire officials say there were called to Vito's Pizzeria at 1731 Wyandotte St E after a report of heavy smoke on the roof. Chief fire prevention officer Lee Tome says when they arrived, crews put up the aerial truck.

They discovered it was just heavy smoke after staff started up the wood-burning oven.

There was no damage and no cause for alarm, says Tome.
