Windsor-Essex will soon be better equipped in the fight against prostate cancer thanks to provincial funding.
At a news conference Friday, Windsor-West MPP Teresa Piruzza announced $745,000 to be used by Windsor Regional Hospital to help launch the new Regional Comprehensive Men’s Health Program.
The program will help detect prostate cancer early on, reduce wait times and help attract new clinical staff.
A portion of the money will also help the Windsor and Essex Cancer Centre Foundation purchase a Da Vinci Surgical Assisting Robot.
The robot will allow for a less invasive and less painful prostate cancer procedure.
