Today marks the 40th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag.

The green and white flag will fly from dawn to dusk outside many municipal buildings across the province.

Thousands of French students in Ontario are joining in the festivities, wearing the symbolic green and white colours.

The Franco-Ontarian flag first flew on September 25th, 1975, and was officially recognized as the emblem of the Franco-Ontarian community in 2001.
