Two men wanted for several break-ins have been arrested after they allegedly slammed into a police cruiser while attempting to flee police.

Police were called the 2300 block of St. Patricks Avenue for a break-in on Sept. 23 at 2:30 p.m.

The home owner came home after work and discovered that the front door had been forced in. Several items of jewelry and cash were taken.

Police obtained security video of the break-in and identified a vehicle and two suspects.

On Sept. 24 around 10:30 a.m., police saw the vehicle and suspects pull into an alley in the 1100 block of Lillian Avenue. Officers say they saw the suspects dispose of plastic bags with empty jewelry boxes and a receipt in the alley.

The person named in the receipt later reported a break in in the 2300 block of California Avenue.

At 3:30 p.m., police saw the vehicle in the 400 block of John Harvey Crescent. One suspect was in the drivers’ seat and the second suspect ran from a residence and got into the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Officers boxed in the vehicle in an attempt to make an arrest.

Police say the suspect vehicle rammed into one of the cruisers and left the area at a high rate of speed south on Howard Avenue.

The vehicle ran the red light at Howard Avenue and Cabana Road and turned west onto Cabana Road. Officers saw the passenger of the vehicle walking in the area of Kathleen Street and Cabana Road. He threw a knife to the ground and was arrested by officers.

Officers say he was in possession of several gold chains.

After being placed under arrest, the suspect's cell phone rang. Officers could see that the caller on the display was the second suspect that was driving the suspect vehicle.

Police answered the phone and told the suspect that he was wanted for several offences and that he should consider turning himself in.

The driver attended the area and turned himself in to police without incident.
