Summer session has started at the University of Windsor, but it could be short lived if a deal isn’t reached between administration and faculty by 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
The university and the Windsor University Faculty Association are continuing with negotiations Wednesday, with both sides hopeful a deal can be reached.
WUFA president Anne Forrest says a picket line won’t go up at midnight. The union has called a general meeting For Thursday at 10 a.m., where they will update their 1,000 part and full time members. If necessary, Forrest says they will begin construction on picket signs.
At the same time, a lockout agreement – which spells out when staff would close offices and labs – has not been arranged.
UWindsor president, Alan Wildeman wouldn’t elaborate on the talks, but would only say a deal that is “good for everyone” needs to be reached.
In June, the university issued a lockout deadline of July 3.
