The Dodge Grand Caravan will be no more, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles officially announced their minivans will be rebranded under one name.
At the automaker’s investor day, in Auburn Hills, Mich., Chrysler brand president Al Garnder confirmed the Caravan will be phased out in 2016, and a new Chrysler Town and Country will be introduced.
A new Chrysler EV minivan will also be rolled out in 2016. Gardner says the electric vehicle is projected to deliver 75 miles per gallon. It’s unclear if this minivan will be produced out of the Windsor Assembly Plant.
Over the next five years Chrysler’s focus will change, as the automaker shifts gears to cover mainstream segments in small, mid-size, full-size, minivan, and crossover vehicles.
CTV Windsor reporters Gina Chung and Rich Garton are at the Chrysler event and will have more on the automakers plans tonight at six.
